2016 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS


2016 MDTA SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED

The Missouri Dump Truckers Association has awarded three $1,000 scholarships for the 2015-2016 collegiate year. The three recipients include: MiKayla Engemann, daughter of Cathy and Tom Engemann, of Rhineland; Eric Hasenjaeger, son of Darrell and Linda Hasenjaeger, of Marthasville; Katy Hays, daughter of Nancy and Steve Hays, of Monroe City.


MiKayla Engemann is a 2015 graduate of Hermann High School. In the fall, MiKayla plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia seeking a major in Plant Science with an emphasis on plant breeding and biotechnology. Her future career plans are to become a Plant Scientist/Geneticist, and hopes to obtain a job with one of the major plant seed companies.


Eric Hasenjaeger is a 2015 graduate of Washington High School. In the fall, Eric plans to attend East Central Community College in Union, later transferring to Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla pursuing a career as a professional engineer.



Katy Lynn Hays is a senior at Hannibal-LaGrange University majoring in Secondary Education-English. Upon graduation, she plans to teach English at a local high school. She hopes to remain in Missouri and serve her local community.

While attending Hermann High School, MiKayla achieved a 4.12 GPA. MiKayla had a flourishing high school career. She excelled in her academics and was a model citizen in her community. MiKayla was very active in FFA and 4-H.

Eric Hasenjaeger

Eric is currently employed part-time at the Wolf Hollow Golf Club. Other work activities include cutting grass and snow shoveling at his parent’s and grandmother’s homes, helping to butcher, cleaning and waxing trucks, cutting wood, taking care of pets at home, caddy at Boone Valley Golf Club, and refereeing 5th and 6th-grade boys’ basketball.

KATY LYNN HAYS

Katy Lynn Hays

Katy is currently a senior at Hannibal LaGrange University majoring in Secondary Education. Upon graduation, Katy plans to teach English at a local high school. While attending Monroe City R-1, Katy achieved a 4.0 GPA and has a cumulative GPA of 3.7 at Hannibal LaGrange University.

Work Activity:


Katy is currently employed as a Hannibal LaGrange Residential Advisor taking care of fourteen girls in her dorm and around campus. She works part-time as a cashier at C&R Market.


Katy wants to remain in Missouri and serve her local community. Through the love and support of family and friends, Katy continues to strive forward in life after a car accident in her senior year of high school where she suffered a severe brain injury.
